Public housing is generally more affordable than subsidized housing, as the rent is usually calculated as 30% of a tenant's income. In subsidized housing, the rent is usually capped at a percentage of the tenant's income, but tenants may still have to pay a higher percentage of their income toward rent than in public housing.
