Section 8 Pays For Your Rental Costs

1. How does Section 8 work?

Eligible families that apply for the Section 8 program through public housing agencies (PHAs) will get a voucher to find a suitable rental unit. Before applicants move in, the PHA needs to inspect and verify the rental. Rent costs roughly 30% of eligible applicants' income, with the voucher covering the rest.
