Terrace Manor I, Terrace Manor II and Oak Ridge, Bessemer Public Housing

The Jefferson County Housing Authority (JCHA) Bessemer Public Housing waiting list for 2 and 3-Bedroom apartments at Terrace Manor I, Terrace Manor II and Oak Ridge is closed

The JCHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from February 21, 2023, until March 20, 2023. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

1. Print the paper application

2. Pick up the application from the Jefferson County Housing Authority

Once the application was completed, applicants were required to call the JCHA and make an appointment to return the application. Applications were accepted at the JCHA (Bessemer Office)

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Catastrophic Involuntary Displacement
• Applicants with an Adult member enrolled in an employment training program or currently working 30 hours per week or more

• A person defined as elderly or disabled under the definition verified by the Social Security Administration

• Special Circumstance Preferences: These preferences apply only to specific units:
  • Near-elderly families over other families for units designated for elderly/disabled (this preference only applies to designated properties)
  • For one bedroom/efficiency units; elderly, disabled families and displaced persons over single persons

It was not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list
